The latest show featuring Gordon Ramsay isn’t primarily focused on Adam Peaty, but rather on Ramsay’s new restaurant ventures in London. Nonetheless, the Olympic swimmer makes numerous appearances in various episodes, despite the fact that the filming predates his marriage to Holly, Gordon’s daughter.

Adam’s remarks on screen do little to mend the ongoing rift with his parents. They reveal aspects of his character that may come across as thoughtless or even selfish, creating further distance between him and the individuals who raised and supported him in his athletic endeavors. His increased screen time in the series, alongside his fiancée, in various locations like London and Las Vegas, including interview segments, sets him apart from most of Ramsay’s other children.

While Adam may not fully grasp how he comes across, his comment about Ramsay being fair, respectful, and similar to himself raises eyebrows. The series progresses, and Adam’s admiration for Ramsay becomes increasingly apparent, with moments hinting at a strong desire to assimilate into the Ramsay family, even contemplating purchasing Ramsay merchandise in Las Vegas. His actions and words suggest a growing inclination to align himself closely with the Ramsays.

During the engagement festivities shown in the series, Adam’s family was present before their falling out with him. However, the spotlight remains on Adam alongside Gordon and his future wife, overshadowing any mention of his own family during the speeches. This exclusion of his own parents from significant moments adds to the uneasy dynamic portrayed in the series.

Adam’s eagerness to integrate himself into the Ramsay family and emulate their lifestyle is evident throughout the show. However, given the context of his strained relationship with his own parents, witnessing his efforts to align with the Ramsays may leave viewers unsettled.

While hoping for reconciliation between Adam and his parents, the series does little to mend their fractured relationship. The narrative, punctuated by the Peaty family saga and the engagement celebration, appears to serve Netflix’s interest in sustaining viewer engagement rather than fostering familial harmony.

“Being Gordon Ramsay” is now available on Netflix.
