Military fighter jets were deployed to accompany a Turkish Airlines aircraft following concerns raised by the pilot about a potential threat onboard. The flight, identified as TK1853, departed from Istanbul and landed at Barcelona-El Prat Airport with suspicions of a possible item onboard. The Airbus A321 plane, carrying seven crew members and 148 passengers, was escorted by military planes after a threat was detected over the Mediterranean Sea in Italian airspace. Spanish and French armed forces were part of the operation, leading to the safe landing of the flight in Barcelona. The aircraft landed on a specific runway after a series of maneuvers and was then relocated to a secure zone. Law enforcement officers boarded the plane while emergency services responded to the scene. Baggage is being meticulously inspected, with no explosives found thus far, and airport operations remain largely unaffected. Authorities are treating the situation as a false alarm based on current information. Passengers have been relocated to a designated area within the airport, and efforts are ongoing to inform their families.
