Ibiza is predicted to surpass Benidorm as the preferred destination for British hen and stag parties, according to a travel agent. Frank, known as “The Stag Man,” commended Ibiza for its vibrant nightlife and affordability, indicating a shift in popularity from Benidorm, a long-time favorite among his clientele.
Hailing from Tottenham, north London, the travel expert emphasized Ibiza’s resurgence, stating, “the King is coming” as he aims to elevate the island to the top spot for stag and hen party getaways, potentially outshining Benidorm. British tourists have been a significant market for Benidorm, with over 832,000 visitors flocking to the Costa Blanca area in 2023 alone, a trend that originated from the town’s post-fishing-trade decline in the 1950s.
However, concerns over crime incidents like thefts and robberies have prompted some tourists to seek alternative destinations. Ibiza, attracting over three million visitors from various countries in 2022, stands out for its lively nightlife scene. Frank is optimistic about Ibiza’s continuous popularity resurgence after a temporary decline before the Covid-19 pandemic, highlighting the island’s competitive prices similar to Benidorm.
With plans to capitalize on Ibiza’s growth, Frank intends to maintain his businesses in Benidorm, which include bars, travel agencies, and restaurants catering mainly to British holidaymakers. While Ibiza is the third largest Balearic Island in terms of land area, it ranks second in population. The island has traditionally been associated with electronic dance music clubs, but recent efforts by tourism officials aim to promote family-friendly vacations.
