The main focus of the current administration is to address the financial hardship affecting our nation. A significant step taken last year was the extension of the Warm Home Discount to all individuals receiving means-tested benefits, providing a £150 rebate on energy bills for approximately 6 million families, representing one-fifth of households nationwide.

It has been announced that eligible families will receive this discount annually throughout the coming decade. Moreover, in Scotland, the process will be streamlined to automatically provide support to thousands of families starting next winter.

In addition, an initiative was introduced at the recent Budget to reduce average household bills by £150 from April. Furthermore, the Warm Homes Plan was unveiled last week, marking the largest public investment in home upgrades in British history. This plan aims to lower bills for millions by implementing technologies like solar panels and assisting up to a million families in escaping fuel poverty.

Recognizing the impact of the energy supply chain on families, the government is increasing investments in domestic clean energy production from renewable sources and nuclear power to regain control. Every decision made is centered on addressing the cost-of-living crisis, with a dual focus on immediate bill reductions and sustainable long-term solutions.
