Topshop is making a comeback on the UK high street through a new collaboration with John Lewis. The renowned fashion brand, which shut down its standalone stores in 2021, will now be featured in all 32 department stores of John Lewis, as well as on their website. Additionally, Topman products will be available in seven of these stores.

This relaunch includes a curated selection of 130 of Topshop’s most sought-after pieces, with a focus on their popular denim items. The decision to reintroduce Topshop to the high street was finalized last year after successful pop-up ventures in various John Lewis outlets. This initiative is part of John Lewis’s substantial £800 million investment in new brands for the upcoming spring/summer season.

Topshop and its sister brand, Topman, exited the UK high street following the collapse of their former owner Arcadia in 2021. The brands were subsequently acquired by ASOS, which initially sold Topshop products exclusively online. Topshop made a physical return to London’s Oxford Street last year with a launch at the Liberty department store.

Michelle Wilson, the managing director of Topshop, expressed the company’s commitment to providing customers with convenient access to their favorite Topshop and Topman items. She emphasized the opportunity for customers to experience the products firsthand and take them home the same day, underscoring the partnership with John Lewis as a means to deliver the expected level of service to customers.

The timing of this relaunch coincides with London Fashion Week and will be followed by a promotional event at Piccadilly Circus in London, along with various activations across the UK. This move aligns with John Lewis’s efforts to enhance its growth trajectory as it implements a comprehensive transformation strategy under the leadership of Peter Ruis.

Ruis, the managing director of John Lewis, highlighted the brand’s investment in its fashion offerings to support its current business strategy. He described the collaboration with Topshop as a significant step in advancing John Lewis’s fashion aspirations, positioning the store as a premier destination for style on the British high street.

In addition to reintroducing Topshop, John Lewis is introducing 14 new fashion, jewelry, and accessory labels this season, signaling a broader commitment to enhancing its fashion portfolio.
