This weekend, Greene King is offering complimentary pints of Guinness as the Six Nations rugby tournament kicks off. To enjoy your free pint, simply reserve a table for any Six Nations match on February 7 through the Greene King website and present your booking confirmation at the bar.
This promotion is valid at all Greene King sports pubs, including Flaming Grill, Hungry Horse, and Belhaven, as part of the new Fans Reunited initiative. This campaign features Rugby World Cup champions Martin Johnson and Jason Robinson.
Zoe Bowley, Managing Director of Greene King pubs, expressed, “Fans Reunited highlights the significant role of sports and the pub environment in uniting people. By launching during the Guinness Six Nations and offering a free pint to reconnected fans, we aim to inspire moments where old acquaintances come together over a drink.”
Rugby legend Martin Johnson emphasized the power of rugby in fostering lasting friendships and strengthening communities, which aligns with the Fans Reunited campaign’s ethos. This initiative aims to create memorable experiences that rekindle old friendships in a pub setting.
Additionally, the Treasury recently announced a 15% discount on business rates for pubs and music venues starting in April to provide vital support. Following pressure and changes made in the budget, this relief aims to assist these establishments as pandemic support ends. Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson estimates an average benefit of £1,650 for each pub next year, with no similar aid planned for hotels, restaurants, and cafes.
Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, welcomed the government’s decision, acknowledging that the pub-specific relief will help mitigate escalating costs and preserve many establishments.
