A mental health expert has revealed the underlying reasons behind the unconventional behavior exhibited by Donald Trump during his time as president.
In recent developments, Trump has attributed his failure to win the Nobel Peace Prize to Norway, overseen a significant military operation in Venezuela, and proposed a ban on college football games conflicting with the Army-Navy fixture.
According to reports, Trump expressed his disappointment in a letter to Norway’s Prime Minister, mentioning that since he was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, he no longer feels bound to prioritize peace and can focus on what is beneficial for the United States.
This series of events is seen not as isolated incidents but as part of a consistent behavioral pattern. Psychotherapist Marygrace Anderson explained that Trump’s actions can be better understood by examining his established leadership and communication style rather than viewing them as sudden deviations.
Anderson highlighted that Trump’s actions are driven by a preference for excitement, visibility, and control over the narrative, rather than conforming to traditional institutional norms. Throughout his public life, he has relied on intense rhetoric, swift changes in messaging, and confrontation to capture attention and dominate the media cycle.
Among the controversies surrounding Trump are multiple legal issues, including allegations related to the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021, and his infamous remarks about women to TV host Billy Bush.
Anderson further explained that Trump’s behaviors can be interpreted as efforts to strengthen his identity in the face of challenges. His consistent use of a manipulation tactic known as Deny, Attack, Reverse victim and offender (DARVO) has been observed in various situations.
In response to legal proceedings against him, Trump has dismissed the accusations as baseless and accused political opponents of targeting him. Anderson emphasized that what may seem chaotic externally can reflect internal coherence driven by a self-image of strength and defiance.
In a separate incident, correspondence between Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell mentioning Trump was released by House Democrats, leading to Republican claims of a biased narrative against Trump.
Anderson concluded that understanding Trump’s actions through a psychological lens does not imply approval or criticism but offers insights into his behavior under pressure. This perspective encourages a thoughtful analysis of events rather than immediate reactions or escalating conflicts.
