Derek Chisora faced defeat against Deontay Wilder in a chaotic, fierce, and puzzling bout. Chisora hit the canvas twice, as did Wilder, yet both fighters made it to the final bell. Ultimately, Wilder emerged victorious with two out of three judges scoring the fight in his favor.

Chisora had announced that this 50th professional fight would be his last, and the match showcased moments of thrilling yet flawed action. Both fighters, now in their forties, displayed signs of aging and were a far cry from their prime selves.

Accompanied by his family, Chisora arrived at the venue via public transport, pushing his baby son Zion in a stroller through a crowd of supportive fans. Ringside, Anthony Joshua made a notable appearance, his first since a tragic car accident in December.

Before entering the ring, Chisora received words of encouragement from former world champion Anthony Joshua. Chisora engaged the audience before fulfilling his promise to go all out against Wilder from the opening bell. The intense bout led to a moment where both fighters nearly toppled over the ropes in a clinch, prompting Chisora’s cornerman to intervene.

Wilder’s strategy was clear: land his powerful right hand that had previously secured him a world title. Chisora absorbed Wilder’s blows and retaliated with equal force, utilizing his weight advantage to stifle the American fighter.

The fight, spanning four rounds, showcased the fighters’ diminished abilities due to age. However, sporadic right-hand punches from both Wilder and Chisora injected excitement into the match, with Chisora gaining the upper hand towards the end of a session.

As the match progressed, Chisora sensed an opportunity to overpower Wilder in the fifth round. Despite sustaining a cut under his eye, Chisora fought back against Wilder’s relentless assault, keeping the fight competitive.

In a dramatic turn of events in the eighth round, Chisora was knocked down by Wilder in a fiery exchange, leading to a point deduction for Wilder. The fight continued with a quieter ninth round, followed by Wilder’s resurgence in the tenth.

Chisora faced adversity in the 11th round, enduring a knockdown but retaliating fiercely, causing Wilder to hit the canvas moments later. Both fighters rose to their feet, setting the stage for an intense final round.

Despite Chisora’s valiant efforts to secure a dramatic victory with his potent right hand, the match concluded without a standout finish. In an earlier match, Denzel Bentley claimed victory over Endry Saavedra to become the interim WBO middleweight champion, proudly declaring himself a world champion.

Additionally, Viddal Riley triumphed over Mateusz Masternak to clinch the European cruiserweight title, adding to his British title from the previous year.
