Vodafone Introduces New 5G Wi-Fi Router for High-Speed Internet Access
Vodafone has unveiled a revolutionary method to connect to the internet. The company’s latest Wi-Fi router utilizes a 5G mobile signal for downloading files and streaming movies, eliminating the need for traditional copper or fiber cables.
This innovation caters to households without access to faster full fiber connections and offers enhanced flexibility. The portable device is suitable for renters and students who often change residences, as it can be easily relocated.
One of the key advantages is the effortless setup process. Since it operates on Vodafone’s network, users can skip the hassle of scheduling an engineer visit or drilling holes in walls. Simply plug in the device, power it on, and enjoy immediate internet access.
Although the new system delivers speeds of up to 150Mbps, it falls short compared to full fiber connections that can exceed 900Mbps. Despite this limitation, the 5G router is perfect for activities like streaming Netflix, sending emails, and working from home.
For instance, downloading a full HD movie using this 5G router takes approximately 8 minutes, whereas it only requires 40 seconds with a fiber gigabit connection.
To assist consumers in making informed decisions, Vodafone has launched an integrated availability checker on their website. By entering their postcode, customers can determine whether full fiber or 5G Broadband offers the fastest speeds in their area.
This isn’t Vodafone’s first venture into 5G internet access. The previous GigaCube device has been replaced by this new router model.
In a statement regarding the launch, Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, emphasized the importance of providing fast and reliable broadband to homes currently underserved by slow connections. He highlighted the company’s commitment to offering customers a choice between full fiber and 5G Broadband for increased speed and convenience.
Additionally, Three, now part of Vodafone, also provides a similar service to customers.
Vodafone’s subscription plans start at £21 per month, while Three’s home broadband is currently priced at £11 for the initial nine months.
