Conor McGregor has expressed his approval of the UFC’s upcoming event at the White House, even though he is not slated to compete in it. Initially rumored to headline a matchup against Michael Chandler on June 14 on President Donald Trump’s front lawn, McGregor is now expected to make his return to the octagon the following month. UFC CEO Dana White recently unveiled the White House card, featuring Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje in the main event, and Alex Pereira stepping up to heavyweight to face Ciryl Gane for the interim belt in the co-main event. Despite not being part of the lineup, McGregor shared his enthusiasm for the card on social media, describing it as “love it” and later complimenting it as “a great card.”
In an interview earlier, McGregor disclosed that he was still awaiting confirmation on his next fight. He mentioned his initial excitement about the potential White House bout against Chandler, emphasizing the anticipation surrounding the matchup. However, plans shifted, and McGregor hinted at a possible appearance during International Fight Week. McGregor also revealed his intention to return at welterweight, citing his increased size and readiness to face any opponent offered to him. He expressed eagerness to finalize a fight contract and indicated his manager’s involvement in negotiations in Las Vegas. McGregor remains optimistic about receiving a compelling offer for his comeback fight.
