Sky subscribers who enjoy movie marathons will soon notice a significant change in their TV lineup. The broadcasting company has announced a reorganization of its channel offerings, merging Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) with Sky Cinema Family, a transition scheduled to take place on April 30.
Despite the consolidation leading to one less channel, Sky assures customers that the integration aims to streamline services by providing a unified platform for family-friendly films on channel 304. Viewers can anticipate accessing popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked all in one convenient location.
Although the standalone Sky Cinema Animation channel will be discontinued, it will make periodic comebacks during school holidays to cater to young audiences. Sky has confirmed specific dates for its temporary availability: July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
In addition to this channel restructure, Sky has ventured into the home security sector with the introduction of new smart devices. Customers can now subscribe to a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee, offering features such as full HD video recording, mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking enhanced functionalities, Sky presents the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 monthly and a £20 initial cost. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app controls, allowing users to schedule arming and automate device modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s commitment to making top-tier smart technology more accessible. Sky’s focus remains on delivering features that customers value, ensuring ease of use, manageability, and affordability.
This move follows Sky’s strategy to align with evolving consumer needs, offering a comprehensive entertainment and security solution for its subscribers.
