Zion Foster, in a recent Instagram post, praised his daughter as a resilient “fighter” post his separation from Jesy Nelson. The 26-year-old musician and the 34-year-old Little Mix star became parents to twins, Ocean and Story, in May 2025. However, shortly after their daughters were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA), the couple parted ways.
Jesy has been actively advocating for newborn screenings for SMA1, aiming to include the condition in the standard heel prick test to ensure early detection. Zion’s Instagram post showcased a video of their daughter Story, with him expressing his pride and admiration for her strength.
Prior to news of their breakup, Zion publicly lauded Jesy for her resilience, labeling her a “superwoman” and emphasizing the need for SMA testing at birth in the UK. Despite their split, they remain focused on co-parenting their daughters.
Recently, Jesy appeared on This Morning alongside Health Secretary Wes Streeting to discuss her campaign for universal SMA screenings. Fighting back tears, Jesy shared her emotional journey and urged for quicker implementation of SMA screenings to prevent other families from facing similar challenges.
Although Jesy and Zion have ended their romantic relationship, they are committed to jointly raising their daughters and providing them with the best possible quality of life. This separation comes after an engagement announcement earlier this year, following a history of on-and-off relationship due to their differing schedules and age gap.
The Mirror supports Jesy’s efforts to raise awareness about SMA and advocates for improved newborn screenings for the condition.
