The Vancouver Rise have welcomed new additions to their defensive lineup as they gear up for a crucial match against the Halifax Tides. Chantelle Swaby, previously with Leicester City in the Women’s Super League, and Kaela Hansen, who played for NSL side AFC Toronto, have joined the team.

Head coach Anja Heiner-Moller expressed the importance of these signings in bolstering the team’s playoff aspirations. Swaby, 28, brings a wealth of experience from various leagues and is known for her composure in high-pressure situations. Hansen, 26, is thrilled to be back home in Burnaby, B.C., playing in front of a familiar crowd and reuniting with her family.

The Rise bid farewell to Mariah Lee, who retired last month to pursue law school in New York, and also loaned goalkeeper Kirstin Tynan to the Tides for the remainder of the season. With the team striving for a playoff spot, forward Jessica De Fillippo emphasized the significance of the current season stretch and the team’s determination to showcase their competitiveness until the end.
