Following a day-long search operation, Sudbury authorities have confirmed the discovery of a 26-year-old man’s body in Crowley Lake after his canoe overturned. The Greater Sudbury Police Service revealed that firefighters, paramedics, and police officers were mobilized to the lake on Thursday afternoon, shortly after 3:45 p.m. The man was located approximately 24 hours later on Friday at 3 p.m. To safeguard the privacy of the deceased’s family, law enforcement has opted not to disclose his identity.

Upon receiving reports that a canoe carrying three individuals had capsized on the lake, two individuals were safely rescued by kayakers, while the third individual remained missing. A search effort ensued, with officers conducting a ground search aided by the K-9 unit, as well as aerial searches utilizing a drone and an Ontario Provincial Police helicopter.
