Tragedy Strikes: Car Crash Claims Life of Boy

A tragic incident occurred at a bustling shopping center in Canberra, Australia, where a car crashed into a store, resulting in the death of a four-year-old boy. The accident took place around 10:20 am on Sunday, January 18, at the BWS store within the Southlands Shopping Centre in Mawson. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene following reports of the vehicle veering off the road and colliding with the store.

Despite immediate medical attention, the young boy’s critical condition necessitated his urgent transfer to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite all efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Authorities from the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) police confirmed that the boy became the second road fatality of 2026 in the ACT region due to the tragic incident. The car accident involved the child being struck by the vehicle, leading to the fatal outcome. The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital for evaluation, while the ACT Road Policing Major Collision Team is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
