Tesco is currently in the process of evaluating a significant modification to its Clubcard program. The Tesco Clubcard offers discounted prices to members on selected products in stores and enables shoppers to accumulate points that can be exchanged for supermarket vouchers. However, this loyalty scheme is restricted to individuals aged 18 and above, a policy criticized by Which? for being unjust towards younger customers, potentially hindering their ability to save money. Tesco has now affirmed its plan to extend Clubcard eligibility to individuals under the age of 18 within this year.

A spokesperson from Tesco stated, “We are actively reviewing Tesco Clubcard with the intention of making Clubcard available to under-18s this year.” Reena Sewraz, Retail Editor at Which?, emphasized the importance of access to Tesco Clubcard for shoppers striving to manage their expenses, citing research that highlights the substantial savings it offers and the impact on individuals coping with the cost of living. Sewraz commended Tesco for listening to feedback, considering it a positive step forward provided the changes are promptly implemented.

Customers at Tesco earn one Clubcard point for every £1 spent on groceries both in-store and online, or for every two liters of fuel purchased at Tesco petrol stations.
