An explosion near a train station in Augsburg, Germany, prompted a temporary closure of the transport hub on Wednesday morning. Police later confirmed that the suspicious object found was not harmful, leading to the reopening of the station at 10 a.m. with train services resuming. Two individuals, a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man from Ukraine, sustained minor injuries in the initial explosion. Another suspicious object was discovered at the main train station, causing the station’s closure at 8:30 a.m. Explosives experts from the Bavarian state criminal police office were deployed to investigate the incident. Although the motive behind the explosion remains unknown, authorities are actively probing the case. The disruption in road traffic and public transportation around the station was reported in the early hours. Augsburg, located in Bavaria and home to 308,000 residents, is situated approximately 78 kilometers northwest of Munich. This incident follows Germany’s recent accusations against Russia for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport. The drone, loaded with explosives, was discovered near a Ukrainian aircraft and safely neutralized on August 4, raising concerns about heightened security risks. Western officials have long criticized Moscow for its alleged disruptive activities aimed at destabilizing European nations and undermining support for Ukraine.
