RCMP in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, have pressed charges against an individual for three firearm-related offenses following reports from residents who heard gunshots during the weekend. As per a press release issued on Thursday, RCMP responded to a gunshot incident around 68th Street at approximately 8:30 a.m. on August 9, where witnesses observed a man carrying a firearm inside a residence. Subsequently, law enforcement officers apprehended the suspect later that morning.
The RCMP have formally accused the individual of recklessly discharging a firearm, storing a loaded firearm unlawfully, and carelessly using a firearm. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on August 17.
