Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt problem. The recall pertains to Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured from 2019 to 2026 that may have a second-row center or second-row driver side seat belt buckle anchor not correctly attached to the vehicle body structure. This issue could compromise the effectiveness of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Stellantis has reported one injury possibly linked to the recall but confirmed no fatalities.
The recall affects 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 outside North America. Impacted vehicle owners will be contacted by the automaker to arrange for an inspection at authorized dealerships. The dealers will examine the second-row center and second-row driver seat belt buckle anchor, ensuring it is properly secured to the vehicle body if necessary.
