Approaching her 61st birthday, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has been strengthening her relationship with the Princess of Wales, showcasing her rising status within the royal family.

The close bond between Sophie and Kate is now recognized as a key asset for the monarchy, according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond. Bond expressed that the two share similarities, with Sophie serving as a valuable guide to the princess in navigating royal protocols. Their connection has evolved into a deep friendship, with mutual support that is expected to benefit the future Queen.

Kate, aged 44, reportedly referred to Sophie as a pillar of strength during her battle with cancer. Bond highlighted how Sophie’s presence was a source of comfort for Kate during challenging times, given Sophie’s own past health struggles.

Coinciding with her recent birthday, Kate shared a heartfelt video discussing the healing influence of nature during her cancer treatment. In the video, part of her series “Mother Nature,” Kate expressed gratitude for the transformative power of nature in her life.

Despite the 17-year age gap, Sophie and Kate, both originating from non-aristocratic backgrounds, have found common ground after marrying into the royal family. Bond noted that their shared experiences of adapting to royal life have bonded them like friends, with the two families growing closer over the years.

Living in close proximity, Kate and Sophie have been seen enjoying light-hearted moments together at various events, showcasing their camaraderie. In addition to their royal duties, both being devoted mothers, they likely exchange parenting tips and support each other in balancing their public and private lives.

As Sophie and Edward take on more responsibilities to assist King Charles during his ongoing cancer treatment, Sophie’s role within the royal family has become increasingly prominent. Her dedication and rapport with family members, including Prince William, have solidified her position as a respected and influential figure within the monarchy.

Known for her advocacy work on challenging issues, Sophie has gained recognition for her diplomatic skills and unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes. Her efforts to support survivors of sexual violence in conflict zones have underscored her significance within the royal family and on the global stage.
