These problems have prompted frustrated users to voice their concerns on social media platforms, highlighting the inconvenience caused by these glitches.
One user, Jeremiah, expressed his frustration on X, calling out the persistent flickering problem on his Samsung Fold device and demanding a resolution from Android. Similar grievances have surfaced on Google’s support forums, with users detailing their unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue through various troubleshooting methods.
Google product expert Kimiya Kitani has identified the root cause of the problem to be associated with Android System WebView, a crucial component enabling apps to showcase web content within the application interface. Kitani confirmed that certain devices, particularly Samsung tablets, are encountering intermittent issues with Android System WebView, which have been escalated to Google for further investigation and resolution.
While the exact number of affected users remains unclear, reports indicate that Samsung foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Fold series and specific Galaxy tablets are among the most impacted gadgets. As a temporary solution, Kitani recommends rotating the device to alleviate the flickering problem, providing a simple workaround for users experiencing these display issues.
In the absence of a permanent fix from Google, users are advised to follow this workaround by viewing emails in portrait mode, rotating the device to landscape mode until the screen stabilizes, and then switching back to portrait orientation. This temporary measure aims to mitigate the screen flickering problem until a more comprehensive solution is implemented.
