A tragic incident occurred at a water park in Brazil where a 24-year-old lifeguard lost his life while trying to retrieve a tourist’s ring from a pool. The lifeguard, identified as Guilherme da Guerra Domingos, was pulled underwater by the pool’s drainage system and drowned at the Wet’n Wild water park in Itupeva.
The incident took place at the Water Bomb attraction, leading to concern among his colleagues when Guilherme failed to resurface. Other lifeguards quickly intervened, pulling him out of the water and administering first aid. Despite efforts, Guilherme was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to Nossa Senhora Aparecida Municipal Hospital.
According to reports, Guilherme had been an employee at the water park for over two years and was recently promoted to a sector leader role. The park management confirmed that the attraction where the incident occurred does not have a bottom drain, with the hydraulic system featuring side drains positioned away from the water slide exit and visitor areas.
Authorities stated that the park was operating in compliance with all necessary regulations, including the submission and validity of required permits and certificates. Wet’n Wild announced the temporary closure of the park and expressed condolences to Guilherme’s family, assuring cooperation with the ongoing investigations.
Following the tragedy, Guilherme’s body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Institute in Jundiaí before being laid to rest in Bragança Paulista. The company urged the public to designate Daily Mirror as a ‘Preferred Source’ on Google News for convenient access to trusted news content.
