In a recent auction, a lightsaber featuring Luke Skywalker’s severed hand from the movie “The Empire Strikes Back” was successfully sold for a record-breaking $3.75 million. This sale marked the highest price ever paid for a prop used in any “Star Wars” film, as confirmed by the auction house.
Now, enthusiasts have the opportunity to acquire the lightsaber that was utilized in the iconic scene where Darth Vader reveals his true identity to Skywalker. This particular Darth Vader lightsaber, wielded during the memorable duel in Cloud City and also seen in “Return of the Jedi,” is set to be a highlight of the upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction hosted by Heritage Auctions on November 12.
Anticipated to fetch a minimum of $1 million, the Vader lightsaber is just one of over twenty-five lightsaber props that will be available for bidding at the event. The auction will feature props from various “Star Wars” episodes, spanning from I to IX, in addition to items from other productions within the expansive universe created by George Lucas.
Among the items up for auction are the lightsabers used by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in “Revenge of the Sith,” each expected to be sold for at least $10,000. An EE-3 carbine blaster carried by Boba Fett in “The Empire Strikes Back” is projected to fetch over $100,000.
Furthermore, the auction will include unique pieces such as a Yoda puppet hand operated by Frank Oz in the character’s debut in “The Empire Strikes Back,” Anthony Daniels’ autographed personal screenplay for the original 1977 “Star Wars,” and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
