The city experienced another 23.5 millimetres of rain on Monday, causing some homes to flood for the second time in just over a month, intensifying concerns among residents like DeForest.
The ongoing threat of potential flooding has left DeForest and her neighbors on edge, prompting them to take precautions such as avoiding leaving their homes simultaneously to ensure someone is always available to monitor the situation. Uncertainty looms as they fear the possibility of water entering their homes or their neighbors’ properties during rainfall.
In the aftermath of the Canada Day storm that resulted in extensive basement and yard damage in various wards, including College, Bay, and Knoxdale-Merivale, residents have called for increased support from authorities. Knoxdale-Merivale Coun. Sean Devine emphasized the need for continued assistance, highlighting that many households are still grappling with the aftermath of the flooding.
