After being inspired by the movie ‘Crocodile Dundee’, Ginger Meadows, a 24-year-old American model from Snowmass Village, Colorado, embarked on a trip to the Australian Outback with her friend Jane Burchett. Their journey took a tragic turn on March 29, 1987, when they decided to visit King’s Cascade aboard the luxury boat Lady G, captained by Bruce Fitzpatrick.
Despite warnings about the presence of crocodiles in the water, Ginger and Jane ignored the advice and went for a swim. A massive saltwater crocodile approached them, leading to a terrifying ordeal where Ginger was attacked and pulled underwater by the crocodile. Her body was discovered the next day, which coincided with what would have been her 25th birthday.
Jane recounted the harrowing experience of witnessing Ginger being attacked by the crocodile. The tragic incident, marked by Ginger’s fatal encounter with the crocodile, stands as a prominent example of crocodile attacks in Australian history. Meadows’ estranged husband, Dwayne McCaulley, flew in to identify her body and later spoke about the warnings given regarding the crocodile-infested waters.
The incident highlighted the dangers posed by crocodiles in the Northern Territory, with statistics revealing a significant number of attacks over the years. The tragic event serves as a reminder of the risks associated with encountering wildlife in their natural habitats.
