Birmingham-born actress Helen George, known for her role in the popular BBC period drama Call the Midwife, expressed interest in joining The Traitors show after being a fan of the celebrity version of Strictly Come Dancing. Despite rumors swirling about the replacement of former Strictly presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, Helen, 41, firmly dismissed the idea of transitioning to a presenter role.
When asked about the possibility of becoming a TV presenter, Helen emphasized her identity as an actor and shared her thoughts on potential replacements for the hosting roles. She mentioned Rylan and Holly Willoughby as contenders, acknowledging the excitement of upcoming changes in the show.
Having portrayed Trixie Franklin in Call the Midwife for 14 years, Helen remains open to participating in The Traitors, currently in its fourth season with a growing audience. Although she has only seen parts of the current season, she expressed admiration for the celebrity version, featuring personalities like Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, and Celia Imrie.
Reflecting on her personal life, Helen’s relationship with Jack Ashton, whom she met on the set of Call The Midwife, ended after seven years. She confirmed a new relationship with Dan Innes, highlighting the happiness it brings to be with someone outside the entertainment industry.
As the new year began, Helen opted for a relaxed start without setting specific resolutions. She plans to return to the theatre stage with the production of High Society at the Barbican in the spring, appreciating the balance between TV, film, and theatre opportunities.
Helen shared these insights during an interview at the premiere of Cirque du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall.
