A concerning issue is impacting certain Android devices as users are experiencing rapid battery depletion even when their phones are idle. This problem seems to have emerged following a recent software update rollout. Numerous Android users have taken to online forums to express frustration over the issue, with some individuals mentioning the need to charge their phones multiple times a day to maintain battery levels.

So, which users are facing this problem, and what steps are being taken to address it?

It appears that Google’s Pixel phone lineup is among those affected by this battery drain bug, with the tech giant in the United States acknowledging the issue and actively working on a fix for it.

The devices impacted include the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A.

According to reports from 9to5Google, the cause of the problem seems to be related to excessive CPU wakeups, leading to continuous background operation even when the phone is not in active use.

Many users have expressed frustration with the situation. One individual, Phil, shared, “Both my phone and my wife’s Pixel 7A have been experiencing this issue since mid-March. The phones rapidly lose charge, take longer to charge, and drain power even when powered off.”

Another Pixel owner, Fz, mentioned, “After the March update, my Pixel 9 Pro XL started draining its battery rapidly. Now, I have to charge my phone three times a day since that update. Even when I don’t use my phone overnight, the battery depletes significantly. I charge it to full before sleeping, but wake up to only 30% remaining. It’s incredibly frustrating.”

However, not all Pixel users seem to be affected. Warren stated, “I have a Pixel 9 Pro, and I haven’t noticed any battery drain issues. At 6:30 am, it was fully charged, and as of 3:20 pm, it’s at 79%.”

Undoubtedly, Google will investigate this matter thoroughly and is expected to release a corrective update soon. We will provide further updates as new information becomes available.
