Tory defector Robert Jenrick has strongly criticized former Prime Minister Liz Truss, calling for her expulsion from the Conservative Party. Following his move to Reform UK, Jenrick revealed that he had urged Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch multiple times to remove Truss from the party, highlighting a lack of change within the party.
In a recent article, Jenrick condemned Truss’s post-office media activities as self-centered and unapologetic. He questioned why Truss has not been ousted, attributing it to her connections within the party and a reluctance to confront the issue. Jenrick also expressed doubts about the party’s willingness to tackle entrenched interests hindering necessary reforms.
During an interview with Sky News, Jenrick criticized Truss’s handling of a recent budget, describing it as reckless and causing harm to individuals’ financial affairs. Truss swiftly responded to Jenrick’s remarks, questioning his allegiances since joining Reform UK.
Jenrick hinted at a potential defection of a well-known former Labour MP to Reform UK, following Nigel Farage’s recent teasing of a similar move. Another Tory MP, Andrew Rosindell, recently joined Reform UK, drawing criticism from Labour party chair Anna Turley, who accused the Tories of neglecting public services and Farage of attempting to revive their failed policies.
