Drake delighted his fans with a diverse showcase, including the unveiling of several new tracks, in his highly anticipated “not so short film” which premiered on Tuesday evening. Teased on Instagram by the artist himself as such, the film, titled “Fear of Missing Out (FOMO),” ran for about an hour and was broadcasted live on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple platforms. Viewers were taken on a journey through Drake’s summer adventures and luxurious lifestyle, as the film showcased him dancing in his grand Toronto residence, sharing moments with his mother Sandra Graham and her friends, and cruising towards the Toronto skyline aboard his lime-green luxury speedboat.
The video was rich with references to Toronto and Canada, including a scene featuring Drake and fellow rapper Loe Shimmy in $150,000 Iron Man suits at the Canadian National Exhibition. The star-studded film included appearances by SexyyRed, Stunna Sandy, model Winnie Harlow, NBA player Kevin Durant, adult film actress Lena the Plug, and others.
Similar to Drake’s previous ICEMAN livestream, parts of which were repurposed in a visual album for tracks from his HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR albums, FOMO also previewed new music collaborations with artists like Don Toliver, PartyNextDoor, and Yeat. The film featured a total of nine new tracks, among them being Drake’s highly anticipated remix of Ella Langley’s hit “Choosin’ Texas.”
Furthermore, during the Toronto premiere of FOMO, Drake announced his plans for a world tour in 2027, adding that there are other significant projects on the horizon. Unfortunately for fans who missed the livestream, Drake made the film private on his YouTube channel shortly after its initial release. Online reactions from viewers varied, with some expressing disappointment in the content while others praised it for its representation of Drake’s lengthy career in the music industry.
Jamaican dancehall artist Spice congratulated Drake on Instagram, commending his hard work and dedication evident in FOMO. Drake, also known as Aubrey Graham, had teased the film’s release through social media posts, generating excitement among his followers. He shared personal insights and motivations behind the film, urging viewers to embrace life’s opportunities and make bold decisions. Additionally, he addressed criticisms about the decline of the music genre, emphasizing the importance of kindness and support within the industry.
