In a bizarre incident, a confused cyclist who blindly followed his GPS found himself on a motorway without any lights, leading to police intervention in the early hours of Monday morning on the M6 Toll road. Astonished law enforcement officers encountered the cyclist after receiving multiple emergency calls from worried drivers.
The cyclist, riding a sturdy bike with a black rucksack, admitted to Staffordshire Police that he was relying on Google Maps for directions during his unexpected journey on the motorway. Despite the low visibility conditions, the cyclist’s bike was not equipped with lights. He had unknowingly passed several exit points without realizing he was not supposed to be on the road, as reported by Birmingham Live.
Staffordshire Police’s Road Crime Team 3 confirmed the incident, stating that they received numerous reports of the cyclist riding down the M6 Toll road. The cyclist was removed from the motorway and charged for the offense after it was discovered that he had joined the motorway based on Google Maps instructions, without any lights, and had missed several opportunities to exit.
