The film “You Can See Everything” is creating a significant amount of attention, sparking discussions about its potential for Oscar recognition. A24, the film distributor, has initiated an awards campaign that is gaining traction within the industry.

The movie revolves around the story of Elizabeth Holmes, the Theranos founder, who, before her imprisonment, invites a film crew to document her final days. Holmes gained prominence in 2014 for her claims of revolutionary technology capable of detecting numerous diseases with a mere drop of blood. However, by 2022, Theranos faced dissolution, and Holmes was convicted of wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud investors.

Described as groundbreaking and surreal by viewers, “You Can See Everything” is vying for a best documentary nomination, a category where Canadian productions have excelled historically. Additionally, A24 is ambitiously pushing for the film to be considered for the best picture category, a rare feat for documentaries.

Notably, the film is also promoting Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder for best director consideration, a milestone never achieved by a documentary before. Canadian talents David Bolen and Adam Locke-Norton are being put forward for best cinematography and best film editing, respectively, along with nominations in other technical categories.

The campaign for “You Can See Everything” extends to unconventional categories like best costume design, makeup, and hairstyling, showcasing the film’s unique approach. Furthermore, there are reports of a separate campaign, not listed on A24’s official page, proposing Amanda Seyfried for a best supporting actress nomination for her role in the documentary.

Amidst its innovative storytelling and bold choices, “You Can See Everything” has garnered praise from audiences and critics alike, challenging traditional filmmaking boundaries. The film’s fate will be revealed on January 21 next year when the Oscar nominations are scheduled to be announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
