The Canadian government has authorized $76 million in emergency assistance for Flair Airlines due to the escalating cost of jet fuel impacting airlines financially. Len Corrado, the CEO of Flair, emphasized in an interview the significance of this financial support, indicating that government officials are acknowledging the seriousness of the situation and aiming to maintain competitiveness within the industry.

The Canada Enterprise Emergency Funding Corp. disclosed that the approved bailout loans are intended to mitigate the effects of surging fuel expenses and enhance the affordability of air travel. This Crown corporation stipulates that the loan repayment period is four years, with interest rates set below the prevailing market rates.

Since the onset of the conflict in Iran in late February, Transat A.T. Inc., the parent company of Air Transat, has received $430 million in financial aid. The conflict has led to a significant spike in energy costs, resulting in a nearly twofold increase in jet fuel prices compared to a year ago.

Furthermore, Porter Airlines has recently been granted a $125-million bailout loan by the government to navigate the challenges posed by the current economic environment.
