Morissette is suing Urinov for civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation, stating in the lawsuit that she refuses to succumb to the demands of her alleged blackmailer. Morissette asserts that she initiated legal proceedings to expose Urinov’s scheme and hold her accountable.
The lawsuit outlines that Urinov, formerly associated with Live Nation’s Israeli operations, was hired in 2025 as a temporary tour manager for Morissette’s global tour. An incident at an airport in July 2025, where Urinov was arrested after authorities found drugs in her possession, is detailed in the legal documents. Despite Urinov’s admission of ownership and presentation of a medical marijuana license, she was later released.
Following the tour’s conclusion, Urinov allegedly sent a series of threatening letters to Morissette, demanding a fixed 15-year contract with substantial financial compensation. The letters purportedly threatened legal action if Morissette did not comply with Urinov’s demands, including facilitating a work visa for her in the United States.
The lawsuit also highlights Morissette’s concerns about Urinov’s management during the 2025 tour, citing instances of financial mismanagement and past legal issues undisclosed by Urinov. Morissette claims she was left with no choice but to take legal action against Urinov to prevent further coercion and manipulation.
