CBC has secured an expanded presence in Canadian curling through a fresh five-year broadcast agreement that will deliver increased Grand Slam of Curling playoff coverage and all Rock League games on its platforms. The deal with The Curling Group, revealed on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined television content airing on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.
A significant enhancement for CBC lies in its coverage of Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, is set to return to CBC in January 2027. All games will be accessible on CBC television and CBC Gem, while selected matches will also be broadcast on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rock League comprises six mixed-gender franchises with curlers from various nations. The upcoming season will feature events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
Moreover, CBC’s involvement in the Grand Slam of Curling will be more substantial. Sportsnet will continue as the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events starting in October. The network will air three draws daily from Tuesday to Friday, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. Sportsnet will broadcast the championship finals on Sundays, with CBC also featuring select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be streamed on Rock Channel.
This new agreement builds on CBC’s extensive history with curling and elevates the broadcaster’s presence at major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about continuing to share Rock League with audiences nationwide. The Curling Group’s CEO and co-founder, Nic Sulsky, sees the agreements as a pivotal moment for the sport, bringing a larger national audience to both the Grand Slam and Rock League.
