The Montreal Roses made a significant decision following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship by parting ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. The club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, expressed gratitude towards Rositoiu for his foundational role in establishing the professional women’s soccer team. Despite acknowledging Rositoiu’s professionalism, the club emphasized the need for a fresh perspective to propel the team forward for the remainder of the season and future development.
Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points and 10 regular season matches remaining, the Roses are gearing up for a transitional phase. Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the team’s debut season in the NSL in 2025.
In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the temporary head coach. Bard-Martel will be at the helm for the upcoming match against AFC Toronto as the club begins its search for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu.
