A deadly missile strike carried out by Russian forces claimed the lives of 10 individuals in a village located in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, as reported by Ukrainian authorities. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, which targeted a bustling intersection in Pechenihy, Kharkiv region, known for its post office and shops surrounded by residential buildings. Images shared by Zelenskyy depicted a scene of devastation with destroyed buildings, burning cars, and emergency personnel aiding the injured.

Zelenskyy vowed a retaliatory response to the Russian assault, stating that the strike resulted in 17 additional injuries, according to Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the affected region. The attack caused significant damage, including 10 private buildings, a café, a post office, a store, and at least seven vehicles, as confirmed by Syniehubov.

While Russia remained silent on the incident, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office revealed that preliminary findings indicated the use of two small Banderol cruise missiles in the attack. Local sources reported that the strikes primarily targeted the central area of the village, impacting key establishments such as the café, post office, and shops.

In a significant military move, Ukraine launched a large-scale drone offensive targeting Moscow and its environs, deploying 620 drones in the early hours of Tuesday. Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin disclosed that Russian forces intercepted 180 drones over the Moscow region, with emergency services deployed to handle the aftermath. The drones reportedly struck various locations, including a warehouse belonging to the Russian e-commerce company Wildberries, resulting in minor damages and injuries.

Furthermore, Ukraine’s drone attacks extended to Russian-controlled regions like Crimea, with Krymenergo, the peninsula’s main power supplier, confirming drone assaults on southern districts. Power disruptions were reported in several settlements, exacerbating challenges in power distribution across different parts of the region.

In response to the drone attacks, Russia issued a warning to Britain regarding its alleged role in supplying drones to Ukraine for use in cross-border operations. The Russian embassy in London cautioned of potential repercussions for Britain’s involvement in supporting Ukraine against Russia’s actions. Britain’s Defence Ministry reiterated its commitment to aiding Ukraine in its defense against the ongoing conflict, highlighting a previous pledge to supply 150,000 drones by the end of 2026 as part of a substantial funding package.
