While the current scorching conditions coincide with the return of El Niño, climate experts clarify that the phenomenon is not directly responsible for the extreme weather events. According to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory climate scientist Josh Willis, El Niño’s far-reaching effects are anticipated to be substantial. He forewarns of a tumultuous period ahead, emphasizing the significant impact of this natural phenomenon.
El Niños typically occur every three to seven years, commencing in spring and lasting well into the following year.
