A cruel individual finds amusement during police interrogation regarding a severe pattern of manipulative cruelty.
James Saxon, residing in Stockport, Greater Manchester, alienated his target from her social circle, closely monitored her actions, and subjected her to a series of control and intimidation tactics over a span of three years. The court revealed that he systematically eroded the victim’s self-identity, even during her pregnancy, between January 2022 and April 2025. The victim, who stood up against him in court, highlighted his erratic and aggressive behavior fueled by his regular use of cocaine, cannabis, and steroids.
Disturbing footage from CCTV at the victim’s residence captured Saxon verbally assaulting her and neighbors, including threats such as “You’re gonna lose your f***ing head.” The Manchester Crown Court learned that Saxon controlled the victim’s movements, curtailed her freedom, and used coercion and threats to assert dominance. Evidence from the victim’s ring doorbell was presented in court to showcase Saxon’s irregular conduct.
In a distressing revelation, it was disclosed that Saxon callously dismissed the victim’s tragic miscarriage, threatening to crash the car they were in. His abusive behavior escalated when he pursued the victim’s vehicle and attempted to retrieve a concealed weapon at traffic lights, leading to his arrest and subsequent release on bail.
Despite being on bail, Saxon persisted in harassing and intimidating the victim through various means, including social media, texts, and personal encounters, involving verbal threats and emotional manipulation. Greater Manchester Police reported that he also menaced the victim’s family by tailing their vehicle.
The court heard how Saxon’s substance abuse triggered delusions, leading him to concoct false narratives about the victim. In one instance, he falsely believed she had been assaulted, prompting him to arm himself with a hammer and search for a non-existent perpetrator.
The victim recounted being locked in a room by Saxon, pleading to be released, contemplating escape through a window. His aggression intensified after punching a wall in the hospital following her miscarriage, causing her further trauma.
Greater Manchester Police released video footage of Saxon’s arrest and interrogation, where he callously laughed and joked despite the serious accusations against him. He displayed a lack of remorse and a dismissive attitude towards his actions, further reinforcing his abusive behavior.
In her testimony, the victim detailed the psychological torment she endured, stating that Saxon’s coercive actions led to the loss of her confidence, safety, and independence, especially during her pregnancy. She expressed ongoing fear for her and her family’s safety due to Saxon’s relentless harassment and abuse.
Saxon admitted guilt to charges of controlling and coercive behavior, possession of an offensive weapon, and assault. He was sentenced to two years and three months in prison and received a five-year restraining order by the Manchester Crown Court.
Police Constable Elizabeth Andrews emphasized the detrimental effects of coercive and controlling behavior on victims, commending the victim for her courage in confronting Saxon. She urged individuals facing similar situations to report such behavior, emphasizing that no one should endure fear and abuse.
The conviction of Saxon sends a clear message that Greater Manchester Police will not tolerate such misconduct and will strive to safeguard victims and hold offenders accountable.
