Tiger Woods has entered a plea of not guilty following his arrest after a rollover crash involving two vehicles in Florida. The renowned golfer, aged 50, is facing charges related to driving under the influence with property damage and refusing to take a lawful test.
The incident occurred when Woods attempted to pass a tow truck on a narrow road, causing his dark SUV to overturn. Despite registering a 0.00 on a breathalyzer test, he chose not to undergo a urinalysis.
After spending a mandatory eight hours in Martin County Jail, Woods has been released and has returned home. TMZ was the first to report his plea, citing court records and mentioning that lawyer Douglas Duncan will be representing him.
This news comes shortly after comments made by former President Donald Trump to the New York Post regarding Woods. Trump expressed his belief that Woods is doing well, emphasizing the golfer’s negative alcohol test results and the physical toll of his health issues.
Sheriff John Budensiek of Martin County provided details of the crash, stating that initial suspicions of alcohol involvement were dispelled after Woods tested zero on the breathalyzer. However, Woods’s refusal to undergo a urinalysis led to the DUI charges.
Budensiek described the events leading up to the arrest, mentioning the rollover crash involving Woods’s Land Rover, which prompted the investigation. Despite Woods citing previous injuries and surgeries as a factor, he was arrested after exhibiting signs of impairment during roadside tests.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the crash, with both Woods and the other party involved unharmed. Budensiek highlighted the collaboration between local law enforcement agencies in handling the situation professionally and thoroughly.
