King Charles has reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s support for Ukraine, expressing solidarity with the nation amidst the ongoing Russian invasion. In a message marking the first anniversary of the 100-Year Partnership between the UK and Ukraine, the monarch emphasized the importance of achieving a lasting peace that protects Ukraine’s security, sovereignty, and prosperity.
Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy reportedly traveled to Ukraine for a forum discussing future cooperation under the centenary partnership. King Charles conveyed his heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the Ukrainian people, acknowledging the hardships faced during the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion.
The King emphasized the hope for Ukraine to attain a just and enduring peace, stating, “We stand with you” in his message of support. King Charles has consistently shown public backing for Ukraine, meeting with Ukrainian refugees in the UK and featuring a Ukrainian choir in his recent Christmas Day broadcast.
The UK-Ukraine partnership, comprising a treaty and political declaration, aims to enhance military collaboration, maritime security, healthcare cooperation, disease prevention, agricultural technology, and space industry collaboration. Cultural exchanges and educational projects will further strengthen ties between the two nations.
Highlighting the enduring bonds between the UK and Ukraine, King Charles praised the resilience and courage of the Ukrainian people in the face of adversity. The royal family’s support for Ukraine has been evident through visits to charities aiding refugees and public statements condemning the war.
Prince William also demonstrated solidarity by visiting British troops in Estonia and commending Estonia’s support for Ukraine in the conflict with Russia. The Prince’s visit underlined the strong bilateral relationship between the UK and Estonia, showcasing the royal family’s commitment to global engagement.
