A significant number of applications and services require a monthly subscription fee for access, and now WhatsApp may be entering this arena. Reports indicate that the chat app owned by Meta is working on an upgrade known as WhatsApp Plus, as discovered by WABetaInfo.
This new version is expected to introduce exclusive enhancements and features, including the ability to pin up to 20 chats (up from the current limit of 3) and enhanced customization options such as changing the app theme, icon, and accent colors. Users might also gain access to extra stickers, more ringtones, and immersive reaction options for chat replies.
WABetaInfo stated, “WhatsApp is developing a new optional premium subscription plan named ‘WhatsApp Plus’ for the standard consumer app, offering additional features in exchange for a monthly fee. This plan is currently in development for Android and iOS platforms and has not been publicly released.”
In addition to the initial upgrades, Meta could potentially introduce more features over time for users willing to pay. While WhatsApp has not officially confirmed these speculations, test versions of the Plus app have been observed by WABetaInfo, indicating ongoing development.
It is important to note that the existing free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be obligated to subscribe. This optional premium plan aims to provide extra benefits to users who are willing to pay a monthly fee.
Stay tuned for further updates on WhatsApp Plus.
