Victoria Beckham’s friends have strongly refuted claims regarding her ‘inappropriate’ wedding dance with Brooklyn, emphasizing that she is simply a caring, affectionate mother. The singer’s inner circle expressed anger at Brooklyn’s accusation, asserting that there was nothing improper about their dance at the lavish Palm Beach wedding in 2022.
In a recent revelation, it was disclosed that Victoria was invited onstage by long-time family friend, Latin pop star Marc Anthony, at her son’s wedding reception. Victoria and Brooklyn shared a quick dance to the salsa-infused track, I Need to Know.
During the dance, Brooklyn placed his hands on his mother’s hips while Victoria placed her hand on her son’s neck. The bride, Nicola Peltz, was reportedly upset and left the wedding.
Brooklyn publicly criticized his mother for ‘hijacking’ his first dance and causing him embarrassment with her dance moves. This statement ignited a social media storm with fans speculating about the incident.
Although Victoria faced public embarrassment following the incident, her close friends have come to her defense, highlighting her playful nature at family gatherings.
One friend defended Victoria’s actions, stating, “Why shouldn’t Victoria show affection to her son? She has always been affectionate with all her children. There is no need for her to apologize. The backlash she has faced for that dance over the past four years is unwarranted. The Beckhams are a loving family.”
The friend continued, “David still kisses the boys when they return home – they have always been close and affectionate – and Brooklyn has been affectionate too. It was genuine. David and Victoria are youthful, affectionate parents, and yet she was shamed for it last week.”
The friend further emphasized, “It was unfair and distressing. There was nothing inappropriate about the dance. Nicola simply didn’t appreciate Brooklyn dancing with his mother, which led to her walking away in tears. It wasn’t about the style of dance – it was a lively salsa track, not a romantic ballad. Why would that cause distress?”
Nicola, the bride, was reportedly so upset by the incident that she left the venue, followed by her family members.
Guests revealed that Nicola had danced with Brooklyn earlier in the evening to an Elvis Presley song and had also shared a dance with her father during the reception.
Since Brooklyn’s social media post detailing his feelings of humiliation, he and Nicola have maintained a low profile, only appearing in public for a display of unity near their home.
Brooklyn’s post marked the first public statement from a member of the Beckham family regarding the ongoing feud, which began last year when Brooklyn skipped several family events.
In response to Brooklyn’s post, This Morning’s Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary interviewed wedding guest DJ Fat Tony to gain insight into the incident. The DJ clarified that the dance was not provocative and emphasized that the timing of the dance caused the awkward situation.
Fat Tony explained, “There was no inappropriate behavior like provocative dancing or flashy outfits. The issue was the timing. After Brooklyn was called onto the stage, everyone expected Nicola to join him for their first dance. Instead, Victoria was summoned, leading to a tense moment where Brooklyn felt overshadowed.”
He added, “The Beckham family is known for their close bond and love for dancing. What may seem inappropriate to some was not perceived that way by Brooklyn. It all comes down to his feelings about the situation.”
