The Vancouver Rise secured a dominant 5-1 victory over the Ottawa Rapid in Northern Super League action on Saturday. Alex Lamontagne shined in her Vancouver debut with two goals, supported by goals from Anna Bout, Maithe Lopez, and Camila Reyes, who converted a penalty shot. The Rise displayed their strength in the second half, scoring four goals, including three in a quick 10-minute burst early in the half.
Elise Bell managed to score a consolation goal for the Rapid in the 82nd minute, ending Jessica Wulf’s hopes of a clean sheet. With this win, the Rise climbed to fourth place in the league standings, edging past Halifax Tide by a single point. Their record now stands at seven wins, one draw, and nine losses, totaling 22 points. Ottawa Rapid, despite the loss, remains at the top of the table with 33 points, three ahead of the Montreal Roses, with a record of 10 wins, four losses, and three draws.
In terms of gameplay statistics, the Rise held a slight edge in possession at 53% to 47% and outshot the Rapid 17-8, with 11 shots on target compared to the hosts’ 3. Vancouver also earned four corner kicks compared to Ottawa’s three, with both teams receiving two yellow cards each.
Looking ahead, the Rise will host the Calgary Wild on August 29, while the Rapid are set to visit AFC Toronto on August 30.
