Most households have mirrors, commonly found in bathrooms and bedrooms for quick outfit checks before heading out. Despite frequent use, mirrors are often neglected in the cleaning routine.

Recent data shows a significant 171% surge in UK searches for DIY cleaning. Alex Woods, an expert from Victorian Plumbing, suggests simple and cost-effective ways to clean mirrors using common kitchen items.

“Black tea, with its natural tannins, acts as a gentle and inexpensive cleaner, effectively removing grease, smudges, and fingerprints, leaving a streak-free shine,” explains Woods.

He also recommends using stale bread to gently lift dust and dirt without scratching the mirror’s surface. Additionally, rubbing a raw potato on the mirror can help prevent condensation buildup after showers.

Lemon, known for its citric acid content, is another effective cleaning agent. Its grease-cutting properties leave mirrors sparkling while imparting a fresh citrus aroma.

These unconventional yet practical cleaning tips ensure mirrors remain streak-free and crystal clear, enhancing the overall appearance of your living space.
