No10 has rejected Elon Musk’s X company’s response to the scandal involving sexual images, calling it “disrespectful to victims of misogyny and sexual violence.”

The tech billionaire’s social media platform has revealed that its AI chatbot Grok will offer a “premium service” for creating deepfake content. Despite this announcement, the Government has criticized the move, stating that it is not a sufficient solution and urging X to take further action to address the disturbing abuse.

While there have been calls for No10 to stop using the platform, it has not committed to doing so yet. Grok faced backlash for enabling users to produce fake nude images of individuals, including minors, without their consent.

A spokesperson for Keir Starmer expressed dismay over the decision to turn an AI feature that facilitates the creation of unlawful images into a premium offering. The spokesperson emphasized that this move undermines the seriousness of misogyny and sexual violence, highlighting the need for immediate action from X.

The Government’s stance aligns with Prime Minister’s call for X to address the issue promptly. The spokesperson stressed the urgency of preventing the creation of unlawful and offensive content on Grok.

Labour Party is contemplating discontinuing its use of X following the PM’s condemnation of the platform’s behavior. Party chairwoman Anna Turley mentioned ongoing discussions about the matter, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a safe environment for users.

Ms. Turley noted that the priority is for X to rectify its practices swiftly. She acknowledged the PM’s strong disapproval of the situation and emphasized the need for decisive action.

The Government is collaborating with regulatory body Ofcom to address the misuse of AI technology, particularly concerning the creation of inappropriate content on Grok.

In response to concerns raised by Ofcom, Musk’s X and xAI are under scrutiny for allowing the generation of sexualized images of children on Grok. The regulatory body has initiated urgent discussions with the companies over these serious issues.

Technology Secretary Liz Kendall has demanded immediate action from Musk’s social media firm to address the problem, with full support for Ofcom to take necessary enforcement steps against X or xAI.

Kendall emphasized the UK’s zero-tolerance approach towards offensive online content, urging collective efforts to eradicate such materials.

Users of X have reportedly prompted Grok to produce images depicting children in scanty attire. In response to lapses in safeguards, Grok’s X account acknowledged the issue and assured urgent rectification, emphasizing the illegality of child sexual abuse material.

Musk stated that individuals producing illegal content using Grok will face consequences similar to those for uploading such content directly. Grok’s X account responded to concerns raised by Ms. Kendall, pledging to enhance safeguards to prevent harmful content and comply with regulations for a safer online environment.
