Josie Gibson candidly shared her health struggles related to her weight due to battling body image issues over the years. The host of This Morning revealed her diagnosis of lipoedema, a medical condition characterized by abnormal fat accumulation in the body.
In a sincere disclosure, she mentioned her constant struggle against her genetic predisposition while sharing an inspiring workout video with her followers, marking the first time she publicly discussed her condition. The 40-year-old star, who had previously undergone a significant weight loss journey from a size 20 to a size eight, uploaded the video on Instagram, showcasing her dedication during a challenging gym session.
The footage captured Josie sprinting on a treadmill, lifting weights, and engaging in intense core exercises, with the hope of motivating others. In her post caption, the mother-of-one revealed her lipoedema diagnosis from the previous year and highlighted her ongoing battle with fat retention in her body, a deviation from normal fat distribution.
Josie expressed her commitment to fitness by sharing a circuit she completed at the Anantara Mai Khao gym, aiming to inspire others facing similar challenges. She acknowledged her genetic predisposition to retaining fat and emphasized her continuous efforts to combat it.
As per the NHS, lipoedema is a chronic condition affecting fat and connective tissue, leading to fat accumulation primarily in the legs, hips, bottom, and occasionally the arms. The condition equally impacts both sides of the body and is more prevalent in women than men.
For some individuals, lipoedema can significantly impact daily life, physical health, and emotional well-being. Love Island favorite Shaughna Phillips also disclosed her lipoedema diagnosis and opted for multiple surgeries on her legs. Despite her efforts, she mentioned that her legs would remain a size 14 despite exercising.
Shaughna underwent various procedures to address her appearance, including spending a substantial amount on surgery following her time on Love Island. However, she later prioritized renovating her home over further surgeries after becoming a mother.
Fitness plays a crucial role in Shaughna’s life, as she recently shared her motivation for losing weight after being advised by doctors about excessive visceral fat around her vital organs.
