Donald Trump allegedly worked covertly as an FBI informant against his associate Jeffrey Epstein, according to a high-ranking Republican official.
Mike Johnson, the leader of the Republican party in the House of Representatives, made this stunning claim during a television interview when pressed about Trump’s denial of the Epstein scandal as a Democratic fabrication.
The controversy began when US Attorney General Pam Bondi asserted in February that she possessed an Epstein “client list.” However, by July, the Department of Justice under Trump stated that no such list was found.
In the same month, reports surfaced that Bondi had privately informed Trump that his name was mentioned multiple times in documents related to Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died in 2019.
Johnson defended Trump by clarifying that the president’s remarks were being twisted by critics. He emphasized that Trump condemned Epstein’s actions as abhorrent and that he had expelled Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago estate upon hearing rumors about him.
Although Trump had social interactions with Epstein in the past, he claimed to have severed ties with him after Epstein attempted to recruit Mar-a-Lago employees.
Supporters of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement expressed conflicting opinions, with some accusing the Trump administration of protecting influential individuals associated with Epstein.
Despite calls for the dismissal of Attorney General Pam Bondi, Trump rejected these demands in a social media post, emphasizing unity within the MAGA community.
Trump’s stance on Epstein’s death has evolved over time. While initially calling for a thorough investigation into Epstein’s suicide in 2019, he later suggested the possibility of foul play. Recently, he dismissed the entire scandal as a smear campaign.
Following demands from Epstein victims and the family of Virginia Giuffre, a Prince Andrew accuser who passed away, Trump faced pressure to fulfill his promise of releasing government documents related to Epstein but failed to do so.
After the victims spoke out, Trump disregarded their appeals, labeling the situation as a Democrat-driven distraction from the nation’s progress under his leadership.
Trump mentioned that extensive document disclosures had already occurred, mostly dismissing the issue as a Democratic hoax diverting attention from the nation’s achievements during his presidency.
