A man has tragically passed away in a hospital after being rescued from the River Soar near a secondary school in Leicester. Despite the swift medical attention he received, the man could not be revived and was declared deceased a few hours later. The incident prompted a police presence and a forensics team to attend the scene outside the school.
Law enforcement officials were spotted collecting and removing wet clothing and various items, while the cordoned-off area in Richard III Road, near Castle Mead Academy, was eventually reopened. Law enforcement later confirmed the man’s death following his retrieval from the river earlier that evening.
According to a statement provided to LeicestershireLive, officers responded to a call on Richard III Road after the man was pulled from the water by the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. The man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have ruled out any suspicions of foul play and are preparing a report for the HM Coroner, who will handle the identification process.
The site was under investigation by police, with a cordon in place to secure the area and prevent public access. The cordon contained various items on the ground, including wet clothes and a possible paramedic blanket.
