Three horses, Mr Vango, Top Of The Bill, and Quai De Bourbon, sustained injuries during the recent Grand National event held at Aintree, near Liverpool. Mr Vango, under the care of trainer Sara Bradstock, suffered an avulsion fracture in the neck after falling at the sixth fence. The horse was promptly transferred to Leahurst Equine Hospital for assessment and treatment, with Bradstock expressing optimism for his full recovery.
Despite the injury, Bradstock remains hopeful that Mr Vango will return to racing next season, emphasizing the horse’s positive progress and the attentive care being provided. Meanwhile, Top Of The Bill, trained by Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies, also received medical attention after his fall at the final fence. The horse was reported to be in good condition, with no significant issues following the incident.
Additionally, Quai De Bourbon, trained by Willie Mullins, was evaluated after a fall at the second fence and was scheduled to return home after the race. The assessment of all three horses indicates positive prospects for their recovery and potential return to racing in the future.
In other developments, Toby McCain-Mitchell, the jockey of Top Of The Bill, received a 10-day suspension for failing to pull up the horse when it fell behind during the race. Despite this, the horses involved in the incidents are being closely monitored and cared for by their trainers and veterinary teams.
