A woman who survived a life-threatening earthquake reveals she encountered a dual death experience but was revived by an unidentified voice. Maayan Sebbag was on a journey with a companion, checking off her dream adventures. The last destination on her list was a panda sanctuary in a secluded part of China. While having lunch, the ground suddenly shook, trapping Maayan under debris and plunging her into darkness.
In her ordeal, Maayan heard conflicting voices and saw a beam of light lifting her, urging her to fight for survival. Despite one voice predicting her demise and the other promising survival, she managed to muster the strength to escape from the rubble. She sustained severe injuries during her attempt to flee, including head and face trauma.
Upon reaching medical aid, Maayan found herself in critical condition with significant injuries to her mouth, throat, jaw, and tongue. Due to the collapsed hospital, she was transferred to a makeshift medical facility for urgent treatment. Doctors warned her against lying down, emphasizing that sleep could be fatal in her weakened state.
After days without sustenance, Maayan felt her body giving up. She described a peaceful sensation of detachment and a connection with the Earth. A mysterious voice questioned her regrets about leaving life behind, leading her to acknowledge her unfulfilled desire to become a mother.
Seeking a second chance, Maayan pleaded with a divine presence to return to her body. Upon her plea, she was instructed to start walking when the weather cleared, guided by an inner voice. Despite medical advice to rest, she pushed herself to seek medical help, eventually undergoing a lengthy surgery to repair her injuries.
During surgery, Maayan experienced another spiritual encounter where she was offered a choice to either continue her journey or return to her body. Opting to live, she was transported back into her physical form by a luminous entity. Following extensive facial reconstruction and rehabilitation, she refrained from discussing her near-death episodes for fear of judgment.
In an effort to demystify death, Maayan authored a book titled Unburied recounting her buried alive experience. In 2024, she revisited the calamity site and reunited with her rescuers, reflecting on her journey to motherhood with four children. She concludes that death is not the final chapter but a transformation, emphasizing the resilience she gained from her extraordinary survival.
